Best Time to Visit the Amalfi Coast & Capri by Boat

"When should we come?" is the question we answer most on WhatsApp. The honest reply: our season runs April to October, and there is no bad month — but each one gives you a different coast. Here's the month-by-month truth, from the people who are out on this water every day of the season.

April & May — the coast wakes up

Mild days (18–24°C), the hills at their greenest, and the sea to yourselves. The water (19–21°C) is already perfect for swimming — the first dips of the season, in coves all to yourselves — and for cruising, photos and long lunches ashore, spring is glorious. Ports are calm, restaurants have tables, and you'll share the Amalfi Coast with fishermen more than tourists.

June — long days, warm sea

The sea reaches 23–24°C, days are the longest of the year, the light is superb and the big crowds haven't arrived. Every swim stop is comfortable, and the Blue Grotto has good odds of being open and queue-light.

July & August — the coast in full colour

The warmest sea (26–27°C), the liveliest ports, Positano glittering at full volume. It's the season of the classic Amalfi summer — and of the biggest demand. One honest tip: book 3–4 weeks ahead — the coast is in full swing. A private boat is honestly the best way to enjoy August here: while the roads queue, you glide.

September — summer lingers

The sea holds its summer warmth (25–26°C), the light turns gold, the crowds thin week by week and the pace softens. Weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries — if your trip is a special one, September is made for it.

October — golden and quiet

Early October still gives calm seas, water around 23°C and empty coves — the coast almost to yourselves. Days are shorter, so we shape the itinerary around the best light. It's the connoisseur's month, and the sunset cruise is at its most dramatic.
